The porcelain of the Beak sugar bowl is a dark grey/black high temperature burnt porcelain (1200-1300°C). The porcelain is coloured all the way through and partially glazed on the inside of the surface with a black shiny glaze. The unglazed areas of the surface have been sanded down so they are smooth and nice to touch.
