Design Komplot Design, 2003
The GUBI Bar/Counter Chair, designed by Komplot Design, was the first furniture design to be based on the innovative technique of moulding three-dimensional veneer. The 3D design gives the counter chair a comfortable seat and a sense of lightness – with all edges pointing away from the user. With the wide range of seating shells in veneer and HiRek, the GUBI Counter Chair allows a unique and personal expression for both the private home or restaurant.
The furniture design has been awarded in several prestigious design awards and is included in the permanent exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
The Gubi Chair collection comprises side chairs, stacking chairs, lounge chairs and stools. All chairs are available in natural veneer or HiRek PP plastic.
The Gubi bar stool is available with a shell in HiRek material in eight different colours and in three veneer shells: Oak, American Walnut and Black Stained Beech.
The shell is also available in a fully upholstered version in a range of different fabrics and leather, and in front upholstered where the back comes in HiRek or veneer.
Plastic glides included, felt glides available on request.
