Where are you located?

The Modern Shop is located at 145 Spruce Street, Suite 103, Ottawa, Ontario. We are open for pick-up Monday to Friday from 1000-1600, unless otherwise noted and excluding holidays. 

Our showroom is currently open to the public by appointment only. Please email visitus@themodernshop.ca to book a viewing.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, Bancontact, iDEAL, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Interac E-Transfer with DirectPay, PayPlan by RBC, and wire transfers. Purchases made in our showroom may also be paid using Interac Debit.

Where is my confirmation email? 

You should have immediately received a confirmation email to the email address used to make your purchase. If you can’t find it, please check your Spam/Junk/Promotions folders, as they often end up there. If it’s still missing, please contact us at orders@themodernshop.ca as soon as possible to ensure that we have your correct contact information.

What is my order status?

Do you charge for shipping?

We offer free standard/ground shipping within Canada (excluding the territories) and the contiguous United States on orders over $199, before taxes. A shipping surcharge may apply to certain items based on their size, weight, and destination. These fees are independent of the free shipping offer. Check out our complete Shipping Policy here

When will my order ship?

If your entire order is in stock, you can expect it to ship within 72 hours and to receive an email including tracking information shortly thereafter. 

In the case of products tagged Available to order, shipping will occur once all items in your order have arrived to us. Should you require an order to ship in segments, a small fee will apply. Please reach out to us at orders@themodernshop.ca to make a request.

Please keep in mind that lead times (found here) vary between our brands and are subject to change without notice. We are proud to support sustainable brands building products to last a lifetime (or longer!) and appreciate your patience with the time such quality work can take.

How will my order ship?

Most orders are shipped using Canada Post, Fedex, UPS, Purolator, GLS, or Canpar. For larger items, we use specialized third party freight carriers such as Day & Ross and M&O Transport.

How do you charge taxes and/or import fees?

Within Canada, taxes are charged on both orders and shipping, in accordance with the province or territory your order is to be sent.

USA and International orders may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. To ensure a smooth delivery process, you will be contacted by a member of our team to settle all applicable fees shortly after placing your order. Sit back and relax– we’ll take care of the rest.

Can I cancel my order?

Orders may be cancelled without penalty within 48 hours of placement. Please email us at orders@themodernshop.ca to make a request. 

What if my order arrives damaged?

We’re here to help! Please contact us immediately at damages@themodernshop.ca and follow damage claims instructions found here.

It is our goal to have your product replaced or repaired in a timely fashion, at no cost to you. In the case of items on backorder, we will communicate an estimated arrival date with you as soon as we have it. 

What if my product is defective?

All defective merchandise will be replaced or repaired in accordance with the individual product’s manufacturer's warranty. Please contact us immediately at info@themodernshop.ca.

Is my item covered by warranty? 

All products are covered by the warranty policies of their respective manufacturers. If you have questions about the warranty for a specific product or making a warranty claim, please contact us at info@themodernshop.ca.

Do you offer trade discounts for design professionals?

Can I request a fabric sample/swatch?

Please email us at quotes@themodernshop.ca and a member of our team will get back to you shortly.

Is your website secure?

The security of personal information is a high priority for us. We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect against unauthorized disclosure, use, alteration and destruction of the personal information in our possession.
