Before submitting a return request, please crosscheck your order with our list of Final Sale merchandise found below to ensure your purchase qualifies for a return.

If your item(s) is/are not found on our list of Final Sale merchandise and you wish to begin the returns process, please email us at and provide your name (and/or the name used in making the order), your original order number (if applicable), and the product(s) you are interested in returning. You can expect a response within 72 hours, either authorising the return or explaining your ineligibility.

Return shipping is the responsibility of the sender. For insurance purposes, we strongly advise utilising a shipping service with tracking capabilities.

Upon reception of your return, it will be inspected to ensure that it is in its original, as-new condition and packaging. If it is found to not be so, the value of the item will be forfeit and you will be contacted by email. If your return is accepted, a refund will be provided (minus initial shipping fees incurred and a 20% restocking fee) within 7 business days.

  • Items delivered over 15 days ago;
  • Items not marked damaged to the driver upon delivery of goods;
  • Items purchased on sale, clearance, or at a discount;
  • Any item that cannot be sold as new;
  • Lights and light fixtures that have been opened;
  • Floor models;
  • All rugs;

Order arrived damaged?

Please follow our guide below to ensure a stress-free damage claim process. It is absolutely imperative that all damaged goods be reported within 24 hours of delivery and that you hold onto all items and packing materials until your claim has been resolved.

Outside Damage to Package Only

If you receive a package with obvious damage to the outside of the box or packaging but believe the item inside is intact, please make a written note of this with the courier when signing for your package. 

Damage to Package and Contents

If a package appears significantly damaged, you may refuse delivery of the item. It will then be returned to the place of origin. Please contact us immediately at and follow the steps below. We will make arrangements for a replacement to be sent to you as soon as possible. 

Damage to Contents Only

If your intact package is found to hold damaged contents, DO NOT throw away the product or the original packaging. Please contact us immediately at and follow the steps below.

Email us immediately at with photos of both the shipping box/materials and the damaged product. Please include your original order number (if applicable), your name (or the name under which the order was made), and the product that you have received damaged.

We will get back to you soon with instructions on returning your damaged product, as well as a timeline for your replacement item. Please note that your original product lead time may apply for a replacement. Refunds will not be issued on damaged goods. A replacement will always be sent in a timely manner.

The Modern Shop reserves the right to refuse to issue a refund/replacement item in the event that the item is found to have suffered damage after delivery, been misused or used other than in accordance with the instructions, or if the problem is due to normal wear and tear.

Item arrived defective?
