Ms. Bowjangles by Ingo Maurer
The lamp gets its characteristic bend from a spring steel sheathed in coloured textile. The seemingly effortless rising orange rope dances around a metal rod about 1.40 meters high and ends in a striking shade with elegant and almost futuristic aesthetics. The moving nature of the luminaire is anchored in the constantly swinging construction. In the asymmetrical silhouette with clean lines and curves that interact dynamically, the rope seemingly wraps around the abatjour. Through an optical illusion, it appears as if the umbrella is held in place by the wrapping of the rope alone. On the underside of the shade is an LED light that provides a soft, warm white down light with the help of the built-in diffuser. The lamp comes up with an additional highlight: At the end of the "tail", the "Ms. Bowjangles" can be infinitely dimmed by touch.
